Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

OCD is widely misunderstood — often portrayed as excessive tidiness or a love of organisation. In reality, OCD is a severely debilitating anxiety disorder characterised by intrusive, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours (compulsions) performed to reduce the resulting anxiety.
